D.XIV

Fokker D.XIV

Little is known what Fokker had in mind with the D.XIV, developed in 1925 from the V.25.
There was no specific request from an Air Force for this experimental fighter, designed as a low-decker.
With its 590 hp Hispano Suiza engine, the D.XIV was able to reach a maximum speed of 274 km / h.
It stayed with one prototype.

The aircraft had serious stability problems, as a result of which it crashed on 3 October 1925 during a demonstration flight at Schiphol Airport due to severe wing vibrations.
Aviator Hermann Hess was killed.

The D.XIV could be equipped with armament.
