De Fokker M.5 L (A-II)

The Fokker M.5 L was built in May 1914, as the first design by Martin Kreutzer.

It was a single-seat monoplane, trainer/aerobatic and the design was derived from the French Morane-Saulnier H.
The engine was a 7 cylinder 80 hp Oberursel rotary engine.
The wings had a long span, hence the 'L' suffix.

A striking feature of this type is the high tension frame in the middle of the fuselage. Twelve cables ran from there to the wings.
The M.5 L was slower, but more reliable than the later M.5K.
