The Fokker Spin replica 1936
In 1936, a replica of the Spin was built at the Fokker factory in Amsterdam Noord to commemorate the 25th anniversary of Anthony Fokker obtaining his pilot's license.
It made several flights from what was then Schiphol (East), after which it was exhibited at numerous aviation events in the Netherlands.
In 1960, this replica underwent a major overhaul at the Fokker factory, which was then located at Schiphol-Oost.
It was then exhibited at the Aeroplanorama at Schiphol-Oost, located in the Atoom building there.
The Spin was then moved to the Aviodome, where it was returned to the Fokker factory in 1988 to be made airworthy again for the 70th anniversary of the Fokker factory in 1989.
After being used statically for the celebration of Fokker's anniversary, this 54-year-old Spin made a flight at Eindhoven (military) airport on March 18, 1990.
Fokker test pilot Edwin Boshof subsequently made several more flights with this Spin, including for a TV documentary by TROS.
After these activities, the Spin was included again in the Aviodome collection and is now part of the Aviodrome collection.
In between, the replica Spin was also exhibited in the Sint Bavo church in Haarlem in 2011 for the celebration of 100 years since Fokker flew around the tower of the Sint Bavo.
During the first months of its existence, this Spin was equipped with an 80 hp Hirth
HM 60 R 80 engine, after which the heavier Hirth HM 504 A of 105 hp was installed.
Both engines each had its own propeller.
