De Fokker E-I (M.5K) (A-III)

The E-I was a transitional type, developed from the M.5, which had been rushed into production. The aircraft had an 80 hp 7-cylinder Oberursel UO rotary engine.

The first E.I's were still designated M.5 or M.5K (Kurz, short wing). They were unarmed and intended as reconnaissance aircraft for the German army.

One E-I/M.5 was equipped with a Parabellum 08/14 machine gun as a trial.

With this type the German army switched to the “E” designation or Eindecker.

A-III was another military designation for the M.5.

The E-I was equipped with a Parabellum MG 14 synchronized machine gun.
