The Fokker V.1

The Fokker V.1 was a single-seat, one-and-a-half-decker aircraft completed in December 1916.

It was equipped with a 100 hp Oberursel engine and armed with two machine guns.
The V.1 had no ailerons and its squat shape earned it the nickname “Floh” (Flea).

Reinhold Platz became the designer of a large part of the V series. Between 1916 and 1919, the first aircraft were built without struts or wires. Over time, this would no longer always be the case. The V designation then came to stand for "Versuchsflugzeug" (such as "Test Aircraft"), which then stood for experimental or test aircraft. Piloted by Anthony Fokker, the VI makes a landing.

Although the test flights went very well and Fokker was satisfied, the German army did not order the V.1. Here, Anthony Fokker stands in front of the V.1.
