The only V.3, a triplane, in a plain white paint scheme (stretched finish). The two lower wings are of equal width but smaller than the upper wing. The V.3 became the prelude to a whole series of experimental triplane aircraft. The engine cowling was given a semi-solid finish, leaving the lower half exposed. This provided additional cooling for the rotary engine. This would become standard for many Fokker aircraft during the First World War. This experimental aircraft was not offered to the German army. This was done with the Fokker V.4, as the F.I and later the Dr.I.
